    Civil War Period Homemade Dulcimer Attributed to Sergeant Abraham Stamm, Co. A, 1st North Carolina Infantry, Killed in Action at Antietam. Abraham Stamm enlisted on May 18, 1861, as a corporal and mustered into A Company of the 1st North Carolina Infantry. He was listed as wounded on June 26, 1862 at Ellerson's Mill, Virginia and listed as killed in action on September 17, 1862 at Sharpsburg, Maryland. Stamm's homemade dulcimer measures 28.5" x 5.5" x 2" and is faintly stenciled on the fret board: "A STAMM / CO A 1 ST NC INF". The dulcimer itself shows it's age but remains in good condition.
