    Description

    Civil War Pattern 1861 .58 Caliber New York Militia Cartridge Box. A standard pattern 1861 cartridge box with an oval brass New York Militia cartridge plate mounted to the front flap. The box has no visible maker's or inspector's marks. A typed label affixed to the front flap reads: "Found on the Rohrbach Farm about a quarter mile from the Burside [sic] Bridge, 1862". The cartridge box is complete with tins and all straps and buckles are present. One side of the box's stitching on the back is loose and one belt strap is misshapen, one "ear" is missing, otherwise it is in very good condition.
