    Civil War Cavalry Officer's Grouping to Major William H. Dunn 5th & 10th Michigan Cavalry Group to Major William H. Dunn who served in the 5th & 10th Michigan Cavalry.
    Group consists of; Civil War officer's cavalry short jacket , 9 button front with matching Goddard & Bro Waterbury eagle "C" buttons , matching the six cuff buttons, 9 1/2" elbows tapering to 4 1/2" cuff, tufted shoulder, 1 1/4" high standing collar. Cuffs exhibit black quatrefoil, shoulders with double border Cavalry captains shoulder straps showing wear to the outer borders. Interior body quilted black polished cotton, left breast pocket, velvet collar lining, white cotton sleeve lining. Jacket exhibits scattered mothing and service wear to the inner cuffs; Civil War officer's tarred linen haversack with embossed scroll, flower and Federal shield motif, body is soft and pliable, strap is torn from body on one side; Leather cap box in poor condition; Civil War officer's scarlet silk sash, shows fading, worn fringe and a few holes; Gold hat cord; Model 1858 bullseye canteen with brown cover and strap showing wear; Post Civil War veterans kepi with Michigan side buttons double gold cord chin strap, body shows mothing , interior with label "Frank Henderson Regalia Kalamazoo Mich; Broken white leather belt with cast brass GAR belt buckle; Red silk fringed tie; Post Civil War leather mittens and leather holster; 2 1/2" china GAR Gettysburg souvenir canteen;
    Also included is a group of 1/6 plate ambrotype's and daguerreotypes of family members and daguerreotype of a house.
    William H. Dunn enlisted Aug. 14, 1862 in Co. I 5th Michigan Cavalry, captured and escaped at Gettysburg, October 23, 1863 promoted 2nd Lieut 10th Michigan Cavalry, 1st Lieut 1864 and Captain Jan 6, 1865. Promoted to Major by brevet April 9, 1865.
