    Civil War and Earlier Artifacts: Great Group with Superb Provenance, Each Piece Having a 19th Century Ink Script Tag. The group includes: complete paper wrapped .58 caliber cartridge, "From First Battle of Bull Run"; broken paper wrapped .58 caliber cartridge, "From Battle of First Bull Run"; small sliver of wood, "Piece of step Col. Elsworth (sic) was shot on" and on back of tag "DeForest Thomas member of Zouave"; two ring Confederate .58 caliber Gardner bullet with some paper still attached to the base, "Minnie (sic) Ball taken from a dead Rebel on the field of Shiloh and on back of tag "By DeForest Thomas"; a short Williams cleaner bullet and an unidentified teat base carbine bullet with no tags; an 1 1/4" X 2 3/4" X 5/8" piece of wood, "Piece of Lieut. Oliver Perry's Flag Ship brig Lawrence sunk at the Battle of Lake Erie Sept. 10, 1813. Presented by John McKay"; small paper wrapped piece of wood, "Piece of Sturveysants (sic) pear tree; 5/8" X 2 3/8" piece of steel cable with brass band at each end, "Piece of first Atlantic Cable". Fascinating grouping and a great display.
