Civil War and Beyond: 34-Star Wool Bunting Flag. 76" x 37.5" flag with 34-stars on each side of the canton. Completely hand-stitched. The hoist is marked with the name of the maker: "[Che]sney, Albany, N.Y." It is also inscribed "PROUTY", "Millhouse" and "This flag flew through the Civil War 1860. Lincoln. Grant. Richmond. The Cuban-Spanish War. Manilla, May 1, 1898, Dewey Sep. 29. 1899." There is one whipped grommet and one brass grommet. Some holes and mothing, concentrated towards the fly end. Some period repairs, also a new patch in the upper right corner and a 30" strip of new striping overlaid in the lower right corner. Very good overall. There were 34 stars from January 29, 1861 to June 20, 1863.
