    Carte de Visite Size Tintype and Signed Bible of Captain William Murphy Inge, 10th Mississippi Cavalry. Includes: (1) CDV-size tintype measuring 2.5" x 4". A beautiful, clear, tinted image of Captain Inge in uniform, posed standing. Of particular note is his uniform with its dark blue coat and his matching striped trousers and vest. Contemporary identification on the reverse reads: "Capt. Wm M. Inge / 10th Mississippi Cav". The image is housed in an embossed leather case and retains its bright mat and preserver. On catch is missing from the case. Excellent condition. (2) Small New Testament printed by the American Bible Society, New York, 1859, signed "William M. Inge" on the front pastedown. A bit of wear to the blind-stamped brown cloth, otherwise in very good condition. William Murphy Inge enlisted at Corinth, Mississippi as a Captain, date unknown. On March 1, 1863 he was commissioned into the Field and Staff of the 12 Mississippi Cavalry. He transferred into the 10th Mississippi Cavalry in January of 1865. He rose through the ranks attaining Major and then Colonels rank. He surrendered at Durham Station, North Carolina, on April 26, 1865.
