British P 1853 Enfield .577 Percussion Rifled Musket, Tower 1861 Very nice example of this Civil War rifled musket extensively used by troops both North and South, and one of the few imported weapons comparable in quality and accuracy to US produced weapons. Metal is generally smooth and bright with patches of minor dark staining, middle and rear band show light pitting. Excellent markings, mechanically perfect, brass furniture excellent. Crude old lead nipple protector and attached chain. Wood exhibiting a dark patina shows a few tight cracks at the lock screws, a crack at the butt and a small spot of fill under the butt. Accompanied by the original angular bayonet with leather scabbard in excellent condition and cloth sling.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
