Attractive 12th/ 20th Corps Badge from a Fighting Pennsylvania Regiment. This excellent suspension badge was worn by a member of the 29th Pa. Vol. Infantry and is in superlative condition. It features a thin silver star measuring about 1.25" from tip-to-tip on the points of which are delicately engraved the unit's battle honors "Ringgold/ Look Out Mt./ Chancellorsville/ Gettysburg/ Cedar Mt./ Antietam / Front Royal/ Winchester/ Missionary Ridge/ Pea Vine Creek/ Wauhatchie." A clear stone is inset in the center of the star under which is nicely engraved the regimental number "29." The star is suspended by chains from a top bar having a relief scroll decoration. The back retains its original t-bar fastener. A red, white, and blue ribbon hangs below the top bar and extends about 1" past the bottom of the star. The 29th Pennsylvania saw extensive service with the Army of the Potomac's 12th Corps and, after September 1863 with the Army of the Cumberland at which time the 12th Corps was reconstituted as the 20th but retained the same "star" emblem. A truly fine and historic badge in excellent condition.
