Ames US M1850 Staff & Field Officer's sword with 28" 'Marine Length' Blade. Blade with typical Ames etching including floral/scroll work, arms panoplies, with spread wing eagle on obverse and US on reverse. Ames logo in etched panel at the base of the blade on obverse. Blade very fine, bright and clean, just showing some wear to the etching from being drawn in an out of the scabbard, retaining most of the original luster, and the original leather washer. Regulation style hilt with pierced US about perfect, retaining most of the original gilt. Sharkskin grip with twisted brass wire wrap perfect. Scabbard also about perfect retaining most of the original brown lacquer and most of the gilt on the regulation style brass mounts. Marked with Ames logo on the reverse of the top mount. Superb condition example of a very scarce form Ames M1850 Staff & Field sword.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
