    Description

American Eagle-Head Officers' Sword and Scabbard 30 1/2" straight blade with 16" blued panel engraved with 18 eight pointed etched and gilded stars. Blade retains 75 % of its original fire blue and gilding, balance of the blade mostly bright. All brass hilt with cast classical motifs, eagle head quillon and pommel. Counterguard with American eagle, seated Liberty and shield. Mother of pearl plaque grips perfect with nice patina. Brass mounted leather scabbard with two carrying rings and oval shaped frog stud. Leather is broken at the mid point and shows surface crazing. Nice example of an American eagle-head officer's sword with unusual star motif on the blade.
