    2nd Vermont Infantry 6th Corps Badge Belonging to Private Leonard W. Davis.
    Rare badge measuring 1 1/4" x 1 1/4". Engraved is "L.W. Davis 2nd Regt. Vt. Vols.". This was likely suspended from a ribbon. Its in fine condition with what looks to be the original patina.

    Davis enlisted on 7/17/1863 and served until his discharge on 7/20/1865. He was WIA on 5/5/1864 at the Battle of the Wilderness.

    The 2nd Vermont was a heavily engaged unit participating in several major battles including Antietam, Fredericksburg, the Wilderness and Gettysburg. They regiment also has the distinction of having five members be awarded the Medal of Honor. Among the 385 total deaths 126 were KIA.
