Lasting from February 3, through April 12, 1863, the Yazoo Pass Expedition was a Union operation, executed in cooperation between Grant's Army of the Tennessee and the Mississippi River Squadron of David D. Porter, during the Vicksburg Campaign. Its objective was to bypass Confederate near the city by sneaking through the Mississippi Delta. This report, addressed to Gen. James B. McPherson, describes the banks of the Yazoo on their route, and speaks of unguarded waters and land fences left in a "precarious position" should they act on their plans. Smoothed folds, evenly toned.
