    Description

    "Fern Manor / Camp Mason's Hill Va / The residence of Lt. Col. F. Nazer /N. Y. Mounted Rifles", graphite on paper, 7.75" x 7.75", signed in lower left "J.B. Reve__ Dec 14, 186-, Mason's Hill, Va". Ferrier Nazer, a native of Suffolk, in England, served as adjutant of the 19th Light Infantry of the British Army. He immigrated to New York City when he as Treasurer of the Winter Garden Theater. In 1861, Nazer was commissioned as Lieutenant-Colonel of the New York Mounted Rifle. In April 1863 Nazer died of typhoid fever.
