    Description

Civil War Surgeon's Field Amputation Kit.
The purple velvet lined mahogany case measures 3" x 5 1/2" x 15 3/4" with brass corners and a brass plate on the lid for possible presentation. The case contains a tourniquet, a large amputation saw, five knives in various sizes, a plier like tool likely used for cutting, a group of small needles and what looks to be a dental pick. Five of the instruments are marked "W.R. Goulding New York", and two are marked "Tiemann", both well known manufacturers in New York. The original key is present, and the locking mechanism is in working order. The condition of the instruments and case is in overall fine condition.
