    Civil War M1860 Cavalry Officer's Saber Clauberg Solingen 34 5/8" curved blade etched for one half its length on obverse with scrolls panoply of arms and spreadwing eagle, reverse similar with script US, ricasso stamped W Clauberg Solingen, back etched Iron Proof. Blade generally bright with a few areas of small dark stains and minor salt and peppering at the tip, original thick leather washer. Excellent hilt with floral scrollwork where branches join guard, where guard meets pommel and face of pommel. Quillon with nice flying eagle motif. Hilt exhibits original gilt in protected areas. Brown sharkskin grip and triple wire wrap perfect. Steel scabbard mostly bright with minor and sparse salt and peppering on the lower end, leaf motif brass cast ring mounts, engraved brass throat, plain brass drag with a few small minor dents. Choice example of this desirable Federal officer's saber.
