    Description

Civil War: 36-Star Flag. 131" x 68" wool bunting flag with 36 appliqued stars on each side of the canton. The wide canvas hoist or sleeve has two rope loops and is marked with the name of the original owner, William P. Hoopes. It also has a old exhibit tag indicating it was donated on June 17, 1953 by Thomas M. Hoopes and that it was used at the Battle of Nashville (December 15-16, 1864). We believe Hoopes served in the 5th and 8th Delaware Infantry. The flag is entirely hand-stitched. There is fraying on the fly end, several small period repairs and scattered small holes. The colors are bright. Excellent condition overall.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
