    Description

Circa 1830 U.S. Issue White Buff Bayonet Sling with Original 1808 Pattern Plate. We believe this to be a regulation US issue sling for use with the M1816/22 musket. 2" wide heavy white buff sling with leather adjusting loop and frog to accept triangular bayonet scabbard, with small hole cut at the base of the sling to accept the brass frog stud.. Excellent, near perfect, supple conation with no open stitching or tears and very sound. The name "Madigan" printed in brown ink on the inside. The original cross belt plate is the regulation 1808 pattern and identical to Plate 78 in O'Donnell & Campbell. Plate appears to be totally unmarked although we did not attempt to remove it from the sling. Plate about perfect with nice untouched patina. A rare set of early regulation US equipment in superb condition.
