    Description

Broadside: Manifiesto de S.M. el Emperador. Signed "Agustín" in print. Saltillo: Samuel Bangs. One page, 8.25" x 12", February 19, 1823. Attractive broadside containing a proclamation issued by Agustín de Iturbide, emperor of Mexico from May 1822 to March 1823. The proclamation states that although there are still disturbances in Veracruz, the revolution has ended. As noted in Jenkins, the proclamation "presents some peace proposals to the governor of Veracruz that are actually more of a veiled threat." Document has one small chip at upper right corner, else very fine. A beautiful piece suitable for framing! From the Taking of Texas Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
