    British P 1853 Enfield Percussion Rifled Musket Identified to James K. Brown Co C 128th New York Infantry. All iron is dark with with light surface rust, brass a deep undisturbed patina. Dark bore now smooth .64 caliber. Tight action, lock marked "Tower 1861" with crown behind the hammer, one lock screw replaced. Wood mostly smooth with minor dents, scratches and a small crack at the rear of the lock. Stock carved with a 19th Corps badge measuring 1 1/2" X 1 1/2", the arms of which are carved "128 / N.Y.V. / J.K.B./ G.C," above is carved "1862 W", left wrist carved "1862" and between the lock screws "1865 R.". Brass butt plate stamped "C" and is engraved "65".

    James K. Brown enlisted on 8/19/1862 into Co C 128th New York Infantry mustering out 7/12/1865. The 128th New York served in the deep south until July 1864 when they moved to the Shenandoah Valley.
