    Description

    Ben Hardin Helm: War-time Document Signed. 7 3/4" x 6 1/4" manuscript document on lined paper listing eight officers of the 9th Kentucky and 41st Alabama, along with comments on their whereabouts and disposition. Intended for James Wilson, A. A. General and submitted and signed by: "B. H. Helm Brig Genl Comdg." Some staining at extreme top and bottom, not affecting signature. Helm was Mary Todd Lincoln's brother-in-law and was killed on September 20, 1863 at Chickamauga. Docketed on verso, "Report of Field Officers and those next in rank", Headquarters Helen's Brigade, Manchester, April 21, 1863.
