Baden Model 1897 Officers' Spiked Helmet (Pickelhaube). Leather body, fiber visors and gilt trim. 4¼" tall spike on a round base mounted to the helmet with four star-headed studs. Baden front plate mounted to the helmet via two threaded posts and nuts. No extra holes drilled in the front of the body. Flat chinscales of which four on either side at the same position are un-plated. Whether this is a period repair or is significant in some other way is unknown to this cataloger. The helmet is mounted with a Baden cockade and Prussian state cockade. The liner is the standard satin lining with wide brown leather sweatband. The finish on the leather body is crazed. The star-headed studs on the spike base are of different patterns, otherwise the helmet retains a nice shape and is in very good condition.
