Ames US M1833 Dragoon Saber. "N. P. Ames/ Cutler/ Springfield/ 1837" on obverse ricasso with United States surmounting leaf cluster on reverse. Blade about mint with most of the original luster, just an old coat of hardened grease, easily cleaned. Brass hilt perfect with nice untouched patina. Leather grip perfect but only retains three strands of the brass wire. Scabbard excellent, overall smooth and dark with just two tiny shallow dents. Excellent inspectors' marks overall. An exceptional example of this very desirable regulation US saber.
