    Admiral Chester Nimitz Photograph Signed "C.W. Nimitz". Black and white photograph, 11.75" x 9"; October 17, 1964. The photograph was taken during the Japanese surrender aboard the USS Missouri, Tokyo Bay, September 2, 1945. Nimitz, Commander in Chief of the United States Pacific Fleet, is seen sitting at a large desk signing the surrender documents as the representative of the United States and is surrounded by officers of the U. S. Navy. Below the photo, Nimitz has inscribed: "To Midshipman Walter Acuff, USNR - with best wishes and great appreciation of your services as my aide on 17 October 1964. C. W. Nimitz, Fleet Admiral, U.S. Navy."

    Condition: Wear to top edge, with some light soiling and scratching to the lower right corner. There is a 1.5" pencil mark at the top border. Light toning at the edges. Overall good.
