About Mint Civil War NCO Buff Leather Waist Belt Variant. First example we've seen of this precise form. Black/very dark brown buff waist belt about mint. The keeper and plate, which are also perfect with nice untouched patina are both un-numbered. Plate with narrow 1/2" wide tongue corresponding to the keeper. The plate exhibits superb detail with pebbled background, although quite heavy and clearly meant for enlisted/NCO rather than officer's use, with the wreath extending past the eagle's wing tips and rays at the top. Interestingly there is a brown bridle leather adjusting loop present, possibly indicating early Indian War use. A really superb condition Civil War belt set.
