    Description

A HARVEST OF DEATH, GETTYSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA (No. 36). Another classic view of the Gettysburg battlefield, Timothy O'Sullivan's camera captured the ghastly ground the morning after Lee retreated with the dead littering the field and burial parties going to work in the distance. Mount measures 12.5 by 10.5 inches and the 8.75 by 6.75 inch image is in excellent condition with great sharpness. The facing page has a tear on the right which effects a few words of text, but is otherwise descriptive and readable. Dated 1865 and noted "Negative by T. H. O'Sullivan" and "Positive by A. Gardner..." with the date taken: "July, 1863." A gem.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
