    Description

1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery Photo Album. Group of thirty-three [33] photographs removed from an embossed leather album (present, but in poor condition). All but one of these depict members of the 1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery. There are seventeen tintype photos, all identified or signed by the subject. There are fifteen albumen images of which thirteen are identified or signed. This album was assembled, we believe, by Francis Brainerd, a member of the regiment, stationed at Ft. O'Rourke, who survived the war, but died of disease before he could return home. We are selling his archive elsewhere in the sale. The photographs were taken at Wolff's Gallery or Seeley & Murphy, both in Alexandria, Virginia, near the fort.
