    Description

Really Superb Example New York State Officer's Sword Belt C. 1837 - 1861. White buff leather belt with a white patent finish on the exterior, now somewhat yellowed but with minimal flaking and 98% intact. Absolutely exquisite 44mm X 70mm rectangular waist belt plate of gilded die struck rolled brass, with separately applied very elaborate NY inside a silver wreath. Really the nicest example of this pattern we've ever seen and very likely worn by an officer in one of the two New York regiments raised for the Mexican War. Plate and all original furniture retain 95% of the original gold wash. Sword slings etc all about perfect. Really a very rare and visually stunning American sword belt set.
