    "Mac's High Hats" Painted A-2 Flight Jacket

    Fantastic Painted Type A-2 Flight Jacket, "Mac's High Hats", Attributed to Waist Gunner Angelo Spina, 710th Bomb Squadron, 447th Bombardment Group (H), 8th Air Force.
    Comprising: 1.) Fantastic A-2 leather flight jacket manufactured by J. A. Dubow Manufacturing Co., Chicago, size 38, complete with all working hooks, snaps and Talon zipper. The original brown cotton lining is intact. The jacket features a superb painting utilizing all of the available space on the back with "Mac's High Hats" painted in large red letters above a red and white top hat pieced by a large yellow bomb. There are 25 small yellow bombs indicating the number of missions flown beneath the hat/bomb vignette. 2.) Original group history Pictorial History of the 447th Bombardment Group (H). Edited by Capt. Estley K. Surridge and Capt. Edward C. Dooley. Printed circa 1945. With crew rosters and profusely illustrated. 3.) Miscellaneous items including Spina's dog tags, plastic crucifix (broken), U.S. Army whistle and five framed .50 caliber rounds still in the metal links which exhibit combat damage along with a unidentified piece of plastic equipment also showing combat damage.

    "Mac's High Hats" was a B-17G, aircraft number 42-102604 assigned to the 710th Bomb Squadron flying from Rattlesden, England. The aircraft flew missions from April 22. 1944 until it force landed on the continent October 1, 1945 and was salvaged.

    Condition: 1.) Excellent. Showing only honest wear from use. Jersey cuffs and waistband replaced. 2.) Good. Front board detached and spine panel is loose, but the contents are sound. 3.) Very good.
