    Description

    Schiavona Baskethilt Sword.

Approximately 42 1/2-inches overall with a 36-inch straight blade with a partial single fuller on each side ending with a [sunburst design]. Fitted with a very fine intricate baskethilt showing a flared design, but of typical fashion for a Schiavona design. Oval grip with finger grooves, right handed thumbrest and a brass curved three point floral pommel, somewhat similar but not the typical cat's head pommel. Note: Originally, the Schiavona was a Renaissance sword that became popular in Italy during the 16th and 17th centuries, featuring a wider blade than Rapiers.

Condition: Good to very good with age wear. Showing an overall mottled gray patina on blade and hilt. Fine scratches present to metal. Crude metal and some pitting inside hilt. Dried leather handle with some losses. Guard is a bit loose.
