    Prussian Jaeger zu Pferde Officer's Spiked Helmet for Regiments 8-13. 12 ¾-inches tall with a plated-steel body trimmed in gilded-brass. Gilded-brass dragoon-style eagle front plate mounted to the helmet by threaded posts and nuts. No extra holes. The helmet has a 5 ½-inch tall gilded-brass fluted spike on a cruciform base which is secured to the helmet via four round-head retainers. The lower portion of the spike has the distinctive cross design pierced in the metal. Gilded-brass, slightly convex chinscales retained by ornate rosettes. Front visor underside lined in green; the underside of the rear visor lined with brown velour. The helmet retains both cockades. 2-inch wide leather sweatband and silk head lining. Inside of the helmet stamped "20" with no other size or maker markings.

    Condition: Very good to excellent. With a few modest scuffs to the plating; lacking one spike base round-head retainer. Some vermin damage to the leather sweatband. From the collection of J. T. Hamrick, M.D.
