Exquisite Silver 6th Connecticut KIA 'Company' ID Badge. All silver construction, 1" diameter. T-bar pin back, pin slightly bent but pin, loop and base all intact and sound. Raised 1/8" outside rim bears the following inscription "Wm. T. Bradley / 6th Conn. Vols 10th A. C." with some additional tiny decorative scrollwork. The center section is embossed in relief with the letter "F" on a stippled background. Overall the badge is in about perfect condition with nice untouched patina. William T. Bradley entered service with the 3rd CT. Vols. as a private on 4/24/61 and mustered out at Hartford 8/12/61. On 9/7/61 he enlisted into F Company of the 6th Ct. Inf. and re-enlisted on 12/24/63. He was promoted to Sgt., upon entry into the 6th Ct., Qtr Master Sgt. on 12/15/63, 2nd Lt. on 2/28/64 in Co. D and 1st Lt. 3/4/64 in Co. E, indicating it is likely he acquired the badge prior to Feb. 1864. Bradley was mortally wounded on 5/20/64 at Bermuda Hundred, Va. and died of those wounds the next day. The 3rd Ct. was engaged at Bull Run during Bradley's term of service and the 6th Ct. was heavily engaged throughout Bradley's term of service with the regiment losing a total of 107 men killed and mortally wounded. A great badge, in a rare form, identified to an officer who sacrificed all in defense of the Union.
