Imperial German 1st Nassau Infantry Regiment Number 87 Officers' Spiked Helmet. Measuring approximately 10-inches tall, this is a particularly nice example featuring a gilded-brass front plate with the 87th regiment's distinctive "La Belle Alliance" bandeau. The plate is secured to the helmet with threaded posts and small square nuts. The inside of the helmet is marked size "55" in ink. The 4 ¾-inch tall spike is mounted to a gilded-brass circular base affixed to the helmet with four star-head retainers. A gilded-brass spine runs the length of the rear of the helmet. Gilded-brass flat chinscales are secured via rosettes and retain Prussian and Reich cockades. The underside of the front visor is lined in green; the underside of the rear in red. 2-inch brown leather sweatband with silk head liner.

Condition: Very good to excellent. Modest crazing and scuffing to the body and visors, otherwise a choice example. From the collection of J. T. Hamrick, M.D.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
