    Description

Württemberg Foot Artillery NCO Helmet. Standing approximately 8 ½-inches tall. Stamped "MARS PATENT / D.R.P. 25 52" on the perforated leather sweat band. Württemberg helmet plate mounted to the helmet body via threaded posts and nuts. Gilded-brass spine runs from the lower edge of the neck shield to the spike base. 3 ½-inch tall artillery ball mounted to a round base and affixed to the helmet with four star-head split pins. Typically the pins would be domed, but perhaps this is an officer aspirant's helmet. Flat chin scales retained by simple gilded-brass rosettes. Complete with both cockades. Wide leather sweat band and silk liking are intact.

Condition: Near very good. The leather surface exhibits the usual light crazing; the front visor has become completely unsewn and is only retained by the brass split pins at each end. The neck shield has come unsewn about an 1 ½ inches from the left side. The leather sweat band has a split through the perforations at the wearer's front. From the collection of J. T. Hamrick, M. D.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
