    Description

    U.S. Army Model 1881 Officers Grade Infantry Helmet. Extra quality throughout with gilded metal components. Deluxe eagle plate with appliqué crossed rifles surmounted with a shield affixed to the front of the helmet. A large silvered "2" is attached to the center of shield. All components are as prescribed for the model 1881. The beige/white helmet lining is either a silk or satin material. Inside and on the crown of the helmet embossed in silver on leather "HENRY V. ALLIEN & CO. NEW YORK". Gold helmet cord is of a high quality. Original officer grade chinstrap, crown plate and spike are intact. The helmet is sold with a white horsehair plume and gilt tassels. Lacing mounting screw. Helmet enclosed in black japanned carrying case. Modest dulling to gilded components, case lacking the male portion of the closing latch. Very good condition.
