Rare Model 1846 Hanover Enlisted Garde du Corps Kurassier Spiked Helmet. Anything Hanoverian with regards Pickelhauben is quite uncommon and more so considering the condition of this example. The helmet measures approximately 12-inches to the tip of the spike. The helmet features a steel body with gilded-brass trim. The removable 5 ¼-inch spike is on cruciform base mounted to the helmet via four threaded brass nuts. The guard-star front plate has the motto "NUNQUAM RETRORSUM" with the band "PENINSULA GARCIA HERNANDEZ WATERLOO". The front plate is mounted to the helmet with threaded posts and nuts. There are no additional holes in the helmet body. The slightly convex leather-backed chin scales are affixed to the helmet with simple rosettes and slotted bosses. A single leather cockade is mounted to the right side of the helmet. The rear neck shield is lined with black leather; the underside of the front visor is painted green. Marked on the under side of the visor in small black-painted letters appears to be "GdC B [?] 2". The helmet is complete with black leather liner. No readily visible maker's marks or size stamping.

Condition: Very good to excellent. The body displays some light dents and scratches. The central Hanover rearing horse emblem is either worn or was lightly struck at the time of manufacture so the detail is poor.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
