Prussian WWI Cuirassier Helmet. A nice, untouched wartime example, with a Helbing and Sackewitz maker's mark in the dome, dated 1916 and marked size 56. The helmet features a polished steel body, visor and lobster tail all edged in matching silver trim. The underside of the front visor is painted green and the interior of the skull and underside of the neck guard are painted black. The neck guard is ornamented with domed rivets. The short 4" tall grey metal spike is mounted on an oval base via four threaded, domed pins. The proper grey metal eagle plate is secured to the body via small leather shims through eyelets on the back on the front plate. No additional holes appear in the front of the skull. The black leather liner is present though rather dry and brittle. The helmet displays some light surface rust, and is lacking both cockades and chinstrap. Otherwise it is an honest, untouched helmet, needing very little to restore to its former glory.
