    Prussian Reserve Infantry Officers' Spiked Helmet With Field Gray Cloth Cover. 10 ½-inches tall. Gilded-brass reserve eagle front plate with separately applied reservist's cross. The front plate is affixed to the helmet by split pins. There are no additional holes in the helmet body. The helmet is marked size "56" in pencil or ink with no additional markings. Round spike base with four star-head retainers. 5 ½-inch tall spike. Gilded-brass chinscales retained by plain rosettes. Both cockades present. Underside of front visor lined in green; the rear visor lined in red. 2 ½-inch leather sweatband with silk head lining. The field gray cover is stamped in black ink "D.R.P."

    Condition: The helmet and cover are in very good to excellent condition. The helmets shows little wear with some mild dulling to the front due to storage. The cover one very small hole. From the collection of J. T. Hamrick, M.D.
