Oldenburg Dragoon Regiment Number 19 Officers' Pickelhaube.
A stunning helmet complete and in exceptional condition. Leather body with fiber visors and silver trim. A tall 4¾" silver spike sits atop a silver cruciform base mounted to the helmet with four silvered star-head studs. One stud is of the threaded post variety, the other three are of the split pin variety. All retain what appear to be their original inner washers. The silvered eagle front plate has a Oldenburg crest atop a large convex silvered star. The front plate is mounted to the helmet via three threaded posts. All nuts and washers are present. There are no additional holes in the front of the helmet body. The brass chin scales are complete and in excellent condition and are held in place by silver bosses. Large two-piece cockades representing the Reich and the state colors of Oldenburg are mounted to the helmet. The leather sweatband has ventilation holes in the front, possibly a replacement and is in excellent condition. The original silk lining has moderate splitting .The helmet is stamped size 56. A paper label mounted to the inside dome is marked "Kammer", and the name is also written in ink on the inside of the helmet. Presumable this is the name of the officer and original owner of the helmet. The helmet is remarkably free of any crazing to the leather and is in overall fine condition.
