Mecklenburg-Schwerin Dragoon NCO's Spiked Helmet. Approximately 10-inches tall with a polished leather skull and visors. Front visor trimmed in silver; rear visor untrimmed. The front plate features the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin insignia atop a gilt star. The plate is mounted via two leather thongs. This may be an incorrect plate for this helmet. No additional holes. A silver spine runs from the rear of the spike base to the edge of the rear visor. A 4 ¾-inch fluted silver spike is mounted to a silver smooth borderless cruciform base which is attached to the helmet via four round-head threaded studs and helmet by square nuts. Flat silver chin scales are held by rosettes retaining a national colors cockade and incorrect Prussian cockade. Black leather, enlisted-style nine-finger liner.

Condition: Very good as configured. Rosette bosses exhibit rust; the skull of the helmet has a uniform cracked appearance, otherwise a sound helmet. From the collection of J.T. Hamrick, M.D.
