Magnificent Prussian Model 1842 Reserve Infantry Officers' Spiked Helmet. An impressive 14-inches tall with polished leather skull and visors. The angular front visor is trimmed in gilded-brass; the rear visor untrimmed. The front plate features a large gilded eagle with reservist cross mounted to the breast. The plate is mounted to the helmet via threaded post and secured by looped nuts. A 5 ½-inch tall spike is mounted to a cruciform base which is secured to the helmet via four star-head threaded studs. The band of perling at the base of the spike is slightly detached. Slightly convex gilded-brass chinscales are secured with rosettes. The backing leather on the chin scales may be a later replacement. The tan leather lining is immaculate and appears unused.

Condition. Excellent. Traces of gilt remaining on the eagle front plate and chin scales. Most of the wear is from over 170 years of storage. A choice example. From the collection of J.T. Hamrick, M.D.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
