Fantastic Bavarian Reserve Officers' Model 1897 Pickelhaube.
A beautiful helmet featuring a black lacquered leather dragoon-style body and polished brass trim. The cruciform base is mounted to the helmet utilizing three threaded brass star-head studs. Each stud retains the inner washer, though one stud, possibly a replacement is of the folding prong variety. The fluted spine is about 4½" tall and is mounted to the helmet with a retaining nut. The large Bavarian helmet plate is exquisitely detailed and has a rather interesting variation German silver reserve cross attached. The plate is affixed to the helmet body via threaded posts and nuts and there are no additional holes in the helmet body indicating the presence of another plate. The polished brass chin scales are complete and in excellent condition. The helmet features a two-piece Reichs cockade and a rather interesting one-piece flat Bavarian cockade. The officers' style liner has a 2½" wide leather band with a scalloped edge and there is no silk lining. There are no personalized markings, dates, or manufacturer's marks present on the helmet. The front visor is slightly loose, the top is slightly dented in, and the body displays some trivial crazing, otherwise the helmet is in fine condition and of a particularly nice quality.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
