Beautiful British 16th The Queen's Lancers Officers' Cap Complete With Black Feather Plume. Black patent-leather body trimmed with gold bullion lace tape and bullion embroidery on the front visor; with a ribbed black wool mortarboard crown accented with bullion cord trim. Gilded-brass starburst backing plate mounted with the 16th Lancers' regimental insignia and bandeaus commemorating their battle honors up to Sobraon, indicating this plate likely dates from the late 19th Century before the Relief of Kimberly whose bandeau does not appear. Complete with a gold bullion rosette with "GR VI" cipher that serves as the holder for a black feather plume; lion head bosses and velvet backed chin chain. Interior has a tan sweatband and maroon silk head liner. Army & Navy Cooperative Society gilt-stamped retailer's label in the crown.

Condition: Excellent. A superb example carefully stored over the years and with only faint signs of wear. Exhibits the ubiquitous light crazing on the helmet body. The feather plume is complete but fragile as you might expect. A choice example.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
