    Description

Baden Model 1899 Landwehr Field Artillery Officer's Helmet. Measuring approximately 8 ½-inches to the top of the ball. Front visor with gilded-brass trim; plain rear leather neck shield. Gilded-brass Baden front plate with separately applied Landwehr cross. The front plate is mounted to the helmet via threaded posts and nuts. No additional holes in the helmet body. A gilded-brass spine runs from the edge of the neck shield to the spike bass. The 3 ½-inch tall artillery ball is mounted to a round base held to the helmet by four star-head screws. The flat chin scales are retained by simple rosettes. Both cockades are present. The helmet is complete with a wide-leather sweat band and silk lining. An illegible ink stamp is present on the lining.

Condition: Very good. Light to moderate crazing to the surface of the leather; a 2-inch section of the neck shield has come unsewn; the gilt is worn on the ball, base and scales and a bit matte on the helmet plate. From the collection of J. T. Hamrick, M. D.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
