    Description

    Gebhard von Blücher, Prussian Field Marshal, Document Signed, "Blucher." Four integral pages, 8" x 13", Creuznach, January 5, 1814, in German (not translated). Field Marshal Blücher, in his pursuit of Napoleon, ordered his troops across the Rhine River at Kaub on January 1, 1814. The 1814 Winter Campaign began poorly for Blücher with a defeats at the Battle of Brienne, but he eventually prevailed when Paris capitulated in March of 1814 and Napoleon abdicated on April 11. The document has folds, light soiling, even toning and a stamp from a previous collection. Three ribbon tears have been restored. There are remnants of Blücher's red wax seal on the document.
