    Superb Lot of 11 Mainly Tintype Images of Union Officers and Soldiers. Comprising: 1.) 1/6th plate tintype image of an unidentified seated soldier. Housed in a fantastic brown Union case (Krainik 245) with a brass mat decorated with patriotic symbolism. 2.) 1/6th plate tintype image of a Union soldier holding a musket with fixed bayonet and wearing a kepi. The soldier is identified by the consignor as John Eppes, "B" Company, 6th Maine Infantry. Eppes died of an unspecified illness in 1863. Housed in a Union case (Krainik 316). 3.) 1/6th plate tintype image of an unidentified seated officer and soldier. Housed in a Union case (Krainik 225). 4.) Beautiful 1/6th plate tintype image of three unidentified Union soldiers, two seated, one standing. House in a scarce Union case (Krainik 210). 5.) 1/6th plate tintype image of an unidentified Union soldier posed standing wearing suspenders and with a scarf around his neck. House in a Union case (Krainik 238). 6.) 1/6th plate tintype image of an unidentified seated Union officer, his gauntlets, sword belt plate and hat can be clearly seen. Housed in a Union case (Krainik 247). 7.) 1/6th plate tintype of two unidentified Union soldiers posed seated. Housed in a brown Union case (Krainik 254). 8.) 1/6 plate tintype image of an unidentified Union soldier posted standing, wearing a kepi and with arms folded. Housed in a Union case (Krainik 298). With a gilt mat beautifully decorated with patriotic symbolism. 9.) ¼ plate ruby ambrotype of three unidentified Union soldiers. Housed in a scarce Union case (Krainik 32, Chasse au Faucon). 10.) 1/9th plate tintype bust image of an unidentified Union officer. House in a Union case (Krainik 376). 11.) ¼ plate tintype image of an unidentified Union captain. No case.

    Condition: 1.) Image excellent, case with light edge wear. 2.) Very good. Image with some frosting along the edges, case with light wear with a small chip at the closing mechanism. 3.) Image very good with a scratch in the emulsion not affecting the view of the solders. Case with modest wear, mostly along the edges. 4.) Excellent case and image. 5.) Very good. Clear image, case with light wear and a slightly loose but holding hinge. 6.) Very good. Image a bit light but otherwise shows details clearly. One small scratch on his gauntlet. Case with modest wear. 7.) Very good. The image is a bit dark but shows details well. Case with very light wear. 8.) Image good, though a bit dark with a small dent at the soldier's chest. Case very good with trivial wear. 9.) Excellent clear image; case with modest wear including some small edge and corner chips. 10.) Very good image; case with light wear and loose at the hinges. 11.) Very good. A clear image with remnants of matting.
