Description

    Pair of Confederate States Post Office Warrants. Includes: 1.) Trans-Mississippi Warrant for $162.07. 8 ½ x 4 ¾-inches. Partially printed, the remainder completed in manuscript. On engraved stock manufactured by Archer & Daly, Richmond, Virginia. Dated February 21, 1865. Payable to J. M. Nunn of Bonham, Fannin County, Texas and signed by D. F. Shall as auditor of the Trans-Mississippi Department. James H. Starr signed as the Agent of the Trans-Mississippi Post Office Department. The back reads, "The Depositary of the Confederate States of America at Marshall, Texas will pay within Warrant February 22, 1865" and was signed M.J. Hall, Treasurer. 2.) Post Office Department Warrant for $340.50. 8 ½ x 4 ¾-inches. Partially printed, the remainder completed in manuscript. On engraved stock manufactured by Archer & Daly, Richmond, Virginia. Dated September 28, 1864. Payable to J. Edge, Uchee Anna, [sic] Walton County, Florida and signed by John Henninger Reagan as Postmaster General. The back reads "The [illegible] Treasurer of the Confederate States of America at New Orleans, La. and now at Mobile, Ala. Will Pay within Warrant December 14, 1864" and signed by William D. Nutt as acting Treasurer.

    Condition: 1.) Very good. Some toning to paper stock with remnants of old smoothed fold creases. 2.) Very good. Remnants of old smoothed fold creases, some scattered staining and a very small split in a fold crease.
