    George Armstrong Custer: Congratulatory Message to the Troops After the Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse. 4 1/2" x 7" [sight] printed letter from Custer, Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9, 1865, sent to "Soldiers of the Third Cavalry Division" congratulating them on their invaluable contribution to the "surrender of the enemy's entire army." Normal folds. Matted and framed with a copy image of Custer and a two-sided letter and envelope from Aunt Gussie to her nephew Raymond, gifting him her father's diary [not present] which contained an eyewitness account of the surrender, as he was a member of Custer's staff during this momentous event. Double-glazed and matted to an overall size of 13" x 22 1/4" [not examined outside of frame]. Selections from the Collection of Tom Charles Huston.
