    Description

David A. George 14th Pa. ID Disc KIA Sulphur Springs.
Rare McClellan "Antietam" style ID disc belonging to David A. George of the 14th Pa. Calvary. George was mortally wounded at Sulphur Springs, Va. on 8/26/63. The ID honored McClellan who led the Army of the Potomac in the bloodiest one day battle of the war on 9/17/62 at Antietam. The Medal, which measures 38mm, has an image of McClellan on the obverse, and on the reverse "D.A. George Co. K 14 Reg. PA. Cav. Armstrong CO PA.". This style of ID is listed on page 31 of Maier's ID reference source. The medal is well worn, and likely carried into battle by George.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
