DescriptionConfederate Civil War Letter/Notification of Death. Two pages, 8" x 12.75", Dalton, Georgia, April 27, 1864. Written by Captain George Manion of the 18th Texas Cavalry, informing the wife of Lieutenant H.T. Curl of his death due to pneumonia. It appears Curl grew ill, then exposed himself to the cold, which proved fatal.
Condition: Smoothed folds, with small areas of loss in a few spots where the folds meet. Small burn hole in the upper-left corner, with tape repairs. Light toning and soiling.
