    Broadside Announcing a Celebration in Honor of the 10th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers. Single sheet, 9" x 24.5". Printed by Samuel Bowles & Company in Springfield Massachusetts. Broadside announcing a parade on July 4, 1861 in honor of the 10th Mass. With floral motif borders, and an engraving of an eagle with flags, drums, and cannons at top center. The 10th Mass. was organized in Springfield and had been recently mustered in on June 21, 1861. They were originally led by Colonel Henry Shaw Briggs, who was wounded during the Battle of Fair Oaks in 1862.

    The Broadside lists the officers of the day, and the order of procession. Exercises include a prayer, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a performance of the Star Spangled Banner, and various speeches and remarks.

    Condition: Flattened folds, and a bit of discoloration along one horizontal fold. Stray foxing, and a few tiny chips at edges.
